Surfr App started the way most good things in surfing do: two mates and a shared obsession with finding waves. In 2013 they built a surf log and spot app to memorialize their time on the water.

It caught on. Surfr App broke into the top 50 sports apps on the App Store and tens of thousands of surfers logged their sessions with it. Then, like a lot of good swells, it ran out of runway before we could build the business to keep it going. We learned what surfers will and won't share, and what they actually need around a break.

Alani Surf is the comeback. Same two friends, same log at the heart of it, still private by default. Around it now: conditions that learn your good days, your Lineup, and the world around every break: coffee, stays, shops, stoke. The name is new. The stoke isn't. We've been waiting a long time to paddle back out.
